Fashion can be used as an incredibly powerful tool. We communicate visually before we do verbally. So, in a sense, what we're wearing is our first statement in a conversation. "I wanna wear a dress" can be taken literally, but it also equates to a desire to be daring and original. Clothing can give people confidence, express values and politics, bond us with friends, and function as disguise or armor! Getting dressed is a daily ritual And your sex shouldn't determine what you are expected to wear .. The dress is transcendent!

Track Name: i wanna wear a dress

do the garments that we put on everyday help shape our lives?
is there connection between appearance and the habits of ones mind?
flow and seduction of a robe so elegant
cashmere, silk, cotton, satin, lace and velvet
daring, detail, fabulous design
politics, armor, sex and disguise

(feast your eyes)

very, very baggy pleated trousers just won't cut it
hanging from the waists of young university undergraduates
freedom in comfort
strength in adornment
'scuse me while i slip into something more transcendent
confidence, shape, hue, ritual
pattern, style, shade, value

i wanna wear a dress
wear a dress
i wanna wear a dress
wear a dress

does the garb that we wear everyday shape our lives?
is there connection between appearance and the habits of mind
flow and seduction of a robe so special
cotton, lace, velvet, silk, satin and cashmere
daring detail! detail! design
fabulous armor, politics, sex and disguise

i wanna wear a dress
wear a dress
i wanna wear a dress
Track Name: balm of gilead
i was sent to collect balsam
in a thicket beside a lake
filled my bucket to the brim
as i whistled lazily
boiled it down into syrup
stirred it with a wooden spoon
eyes rolled back into my skull
reeling from its sweet perfume

i carried that golden sap
wrapped in a jar of glass
sealed tightly with a lid
i needed that scent to last
from mountain peaks
into valley towns
across the plains to the sea
where i'm forever bound

gasoline, coffee beans
armpit hair, cigarettes
horse manure, wisp of smoke
coming from the chimney bricks
rosemary on the lamb
fresh dug soil 'tween my hands
an old man pushes out a breath
could that be the scent of death?

buttered onions in the pan
to wake those in the bed
i watched that scent climb up the stairs
go thru the nose into the head
there's chewing gum infused with mint
puked spewed onto the sidewalk
there's the smell of grass
the smell of flowers
the smell of condoms
the smell of cock

balm of gilead
in the air - i smell
balm of gilead
everywhere i go

balm of gilead
reminds me of what i once had
the scent of things that have gone
and of those
yet to come
